One of the eight major venues on the Crooked
Road-Virginia's Heritage Music Trail, the original Country Cabin was built in
1937-38 with the encouragement of local musician Kate O’Neil Peters Sturgill, a
ballad singer and songwriter. Country Cabin II (pictured above) was built in
2002 to accommodate larger audiences and to host a wider variety of programs. In
addition to clogging classes, the site continues to host local musicians and
bands performing bluegrass, country and old-time music throughout the year every
Saturday night from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m, as well as the annual Dock Boggs Festival.
Admission for the
Saturday concert, September 10, 2011 is $10.00. The grounds
open at 10:30 AM on Saturday, and performances begin at 12:00 Noon.
College Students with a valid school identification are admitted free.
Traditional mountain food will be available for purchase through various
concessions on the grounds.
