One of the eight
major venues on the Crooked Road-Virginia's Heritage Music Trail, the
original Country Cabin was built in 1937-38 with the encouragement of local
musician Kate O’Neil Peters Sturgill, a ballad singer and songwriter. Country
Cabin II (pictured above) was built in 2002 to accommodate larger audiences and
to host a wider variety of programs. In addition to clogging classes, the site
continues to host local musicians and bands performing bluegrass, country and
old-time music throughout the year every Saturday night from 7:30 - 10:30 pm as
well as the annual Dock Boggs Festival.
Admission for the
Saturday concert, September 9, 2017 is $10.00 for adults. Children
12 and under $2.00. College Students FREE with school ID. The
grounds open at 10:30 AM on Saturday, and music begins at 1:00 PM rain or shine.
Traditional mountain food will be available for purchase through various
concessions on the grounds.
